Virtue Cycles launching electric cargo trike via Kickstarter

Virtue Cycles is going to launch an electric cargo trike, the Pedalist, via Kickstarter campaign. Kickstarter investors can contribute $10-$8,199 to the trike project.

Virtue Cycles has divided the investors in to the following four levels:

  • $2,995 level: Choice of The Pedalist in white or dark gray minus the factory electric power option. Investors will be able to configure their own e-bike motor and battery setup. MSRP: $3,499. Only 30 available.
  • $3,995 level: Choice of The Pedalist in white or dark gray with factory e-bike motor and battery. MSRP: $4,499. Only 25 available.
  • $6,199 or more: Choice of two Virtue Pedalists minus the factory electric power option and in investor’s specific exterior color, with color sample provided by the investor. Only 10 available.
  • $8,199 or more: Choice of two Virtue Pedalists with factory e-bike motor and battery, and in investor’s specific exterior color, with color sample provided by the investor. Only 10 are available.

The Pedalist has a 750-watt electric motor paired with a 48v li-ion battery pack that will offer 32A hours of power. It has three cycling modes — pure pedal, pedal assist and full electric throttle, which is limited to 20 mph. The trike can go virtually anywhere a bicycle can travel, including within bicycle lanes, around campus, and even fit through most house or office doors.
