First look: Test-riding a prototype electric bike wheel from GeoOrbital

GeoOrbital, a Cambridge startup, has produced a new prototype wheel for electric bikes.

The wheel doesn’t spin — it attaches to the front forks of the bike, and three rollers inside it move the tire around the wheel. So the whole wheel does not spin, just the tire and rim. It has a 350-watt motor and a big battery, which provides a lot of energy to run about twenty miles without pedaling a bit. Read full story here.
