EVELO Brings Electric Bicycles to the People with Equity Crowdfunding

Electric bicycle manufacturer EVELO, notable for both its all in one Omni Wheel and coverage in big publications like the New York Times, just hit another notable milestone. They’re now the first electric bike manufacturer to raise money from average Janes and Joes via “equity crowdfunding.”

Unlike reward-based crowdfunding, like those you see on Kickstarter, this new form of financing lets people actually own a piece of the company, and make a healthy return on their investment should EVELO be bought up or go public. Given that other EVELO investors include big names like Shark Tank’s Barbara Corcoran, that could be a pretty exciting seat at the table.
