E-Bikes as Entry Level Electric Transportation

Globally, electric cars account for only about 1 percent of all vehicle sales, whereas electric bikes sales are expected to reach 35 million this year. They have particularly taken off in Europe where they are used for both recreation and for practical transport. The upside to electric bikes is that when you run out of power, you still have the ability to pedal, unlike an electric car. E-Bikes also have removable batteries that can be charged in a standard outlet in about three hours. Sandra Wolf of Riese und Müller believes e-bikes to be an alternative to cars, not an alternative to bicycles.
