California to Launch E-Bike Share System

After six years of planning, Davis, Sacramento and West Sacremento are finally adopting an e-bike share system. The Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) have been working with private bike-share company, Social Bicycles (SoBi) to plan the system. SoBi will finance, own and operate the system when it launches. It is set to begin on May 15, 2018 with 300 bikes, then in the summer, SoBi will introduce another 600. All 900 will be electric, pedal-assist bikes making this the largest e-bike share system in the country. A group of cities in Boston have been discussing a similar system.
